NYT: The Debut Novel That Rules the Best-Seller List

How has a small literary novel flourished while hyped books by big-name authors have flashed on and off the list? … It’s now been rated over 125,000 times on Goodreads and has a 5-star rating on Amazon, where it’s been reviewed more than 7,400 times.

With Reese in LA

While I was in LA, planning the movie adaptation for Where the Crawdads Sing, Reese made these two short videos. She held up her phone as we were walking out of the restaurant onto the terrace and she and I said a few words.

Reese has done so much for women writers! I am grateful to her and all of you.

Crawdads Remains #1 at NY Times, IndieBound, & Amazon & now at USA Today, too

I have such exciting news to share! Where the Crawdads Sing is again Number 1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List — that is 27 weeks on the list and week 4 at #1.

Crawdads is also the number 1 “most sold” and “most read” book on Amazon and has been on Amazon’s list for 26 weeks running!

It's again at #1 on IndieBound’s bestseller list, that is, best sellers in independent book stores across the US.

And this week, Crawdads climbs to the top of USA Today’s Best Selling Books list, with 28 weeks on the list.

I'm so grateful for all your support.

CBS Sunday Morning: Delia Owens on "Where the Crawdads Sing"

It’s almost in Canada, with a view of Montana. That’s how remote this northern corner of Idaho really is, worlds away from almost everything, except nature. For writer Delia Owens, it’s heaven. Wildlife is her church, vast isolation her muse.

Does she get lonely out here? “I do. I get so lonely sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe.”

”But you like a part of that though, right?” asked correspondent Lee Cowan.

”I do, I do. And I decided to write a book about it.”

That book, “Where the Crawdads Sing,” has become a phenomenon. At a recent book fair in Savannah, Georgia, she had readers lined up around the block just to meet her.

Did you catch the CBS Sunday Morning show segment on Where the Crawdads Sing’? Lee Cowan is the correspondent and we explored some of Kya’s marsh during the filming. If you missed it, you can watch it on the CBS News website.

The Guardian: A Lush Debut
This lush debut about an isolated girl who finds education and solace in nature is already a US bestseller.… Though set in the 1950s and 60s, Where the Crawdads Sing is, in its treatment of racial and social division and the fragile complex-ities of nature, obviously relevant to contemporary politics and ecology. But these themes will reach a huge audience though the writer’s old-fashioned talents for compelling character, plotting and landscape description.
